VMDO provided pre-planning study and conceptual design services for a new Soccer Stadium at George Mason University that also analyzed possible relocation of existing Track & Field facilities.

The new soccer stadium will support the University in hosting high quality NCAA meets and provide spectators with a better viewing experience. The facility will also enhance recruiting efforts for the soccer program and allow the University to host high school as well as collegiate NCAA matches. VMDO’s study is aiding in fundraising for the new facility and supporting the procurement of funds from the Commonwealth of Virginia.

VMDO considered two major options in the study:
Option 1: Decouple soccer and track so that the new soccer stadium is adjacent to the Field House with the track & field facilities being relocated. This option includes a 15,500 sf training center.

Option 2: Renovate track and soccer facility in its current location and provide new bleacher seating for soccer that is closer to the playing field.

In addition to these services, VMDO updated the program validation for both the stadium and track and field facilities; analyzed parking and vehicular circulation, and provided cost estimates for both options listed above.
