Handley High School was built on a 40-acre site from a portion of Judge
John Handley's
estate on a hill overlooking the city. The Handley legacy had an impressive
impact on its students then, and still does today as the school division
undertakes a major addition to and rehabilitation of the historic school.
Subsequently, a plan was created that re-envisioned the high school in
a way that preserves the school’s origins—both educational
and architectural—but also brings it into the 21st century by creating
a learning environment that prepares students to meet the challenges of
tomorrow.
