VMDO was selected by prime contract holder EwingCole to provide educational planning and design services for the new Quantico Middle/High School.

The new school is part of the Department of Defense Education Activity’s comprehensive initiative to upgrade all school facilities as part of its vision for creating educational facilities that support 21st century learners and future cadets.

Quantico Middle/High School is part of the Quantico Marine Corps Base, the headquarters of the U.S. Marine Corps. In addition to training marines, Quantico provides security training for embassy and foreign service officials as well as and training for military personnel serving diverse populations abroad.

Quantico Middle/High School is one of the first schools to be remodeled under DoDEA’s new 21st century learning initiatives. DoDEA’s wide-sweeping educational facility reform stems from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ desire to fulfill two major priorities: foster an intelligent, more efficient, lighter, quicker military supported by 21st century soldiers; and attract the best and brightest military personnel by building the best school facilities possible for their children.

Quantico Middle/High School will serve as a model for helping DoDEA and the Army Corps of Engineers fulfill both priorities while re-imagining 21st century learning environments.
