Cody Solberg

Cody joined VMDO in 2019. He comes to Charlottesville by way of Richmond, VA where he worked collaboratively at 3north, a multidisciplinary design firm on a variety of mixed-use commercial projects. Prior to Richmond, Cody was with LSM in Washington D.C., focusing on bespoke interior architecture, base-building re-positioning, and space planning projects for an array of clients. Cody earned his Bachelor of Architecture with a minor in Landscape Architecture from Virginia Tech’s College of Architecture and Urban Studies. Cody currently lives outside of Charlottesville with his husband, Matt.

A native of the west coast followed by time abroad in England as a kid helped shape Cody’s view of the world and the way in which people utilize space. Cody's curiosity of space, light, and art drove his interests in design. Cody’s varied experience, paired with sharp design thinking, and leadership reinforce his responsibility for designing projects which activate the senses, articulate a story, and ultimately enrich the minds of those who inhabit them. He believes that the mark designers leave can be best celebrated by the way our designs impact our clients, the community, and their inhabitants.

Cody is a passionate, dedicated, and detail oriented individual, always looking to expand his knowledge of the design world within the architectural profession. Outside of the studio you can find Cody swimming, out and about exploring the cities he lives in and the landscapes that surround them, and spending time with family and friends. Cody loves photography, the outdoors, and local cuisine and spirits.
