A passionate citizen architect, Hayley Owens recognizes the important role architecture plays in shaping communities. A consistent thread connecting her varied design experience at VMDO includes a focus on community engagement and space programming. Hayley’s work in equipping community stakeholders to shape spaces designed for them translates into buildings that celebrate real places and meet real needs. Outside of project work, Hayley is involved in many local advocacy efforts for affordable housing, transit, and sustainability. She is the 2022 recipient of AIA Central Virginia’s Young Activist Award.
