Kelly Callahan is a licensed architect with over 30 years of experience programming, planning, and designing innovative public and educational buildings. Kelly’s passion is promoting the unique features of a place, prioritizing sustainable solutions, and supporting student-centered health and learning through the process of design. 

As a K12 design leader, Kelly plays a central role as supervisor of projects from conception to completion. She has provided seamless project design, delivery, and management for several award-winning Virginia schools including Buckingham County Primary and Elementary Schools, Bluestone Elementary School in Harrisonburg, and the Shihadeh Innovation Center in Winchester. Kelly’s extensive experience with publicly funded projects and her mindfulness of budget and schedule result in designs of appropriate and delightful places that foster learning. 

Outside of VMDO, Kelly is an active leader in the architectural profession, having recently served as president of both AIA Virginia and the local component AIA Central Virginia.
