Lauren Shumate is an accomplished project manager who shepherds projects for Higher Education and Civic + Cultural clients. Lauren focuses on ensuring that design of thoughtful learning environments is carried through from visioning all the way through construction. She enjoys approaching problems both creatively and analytically, and she believes that successful projects combine responsive design and quality documentation. In her time at VMDO, Lauren has effortlessly navigated the complexities of designing large buildings with partner architects for projects such as Center for the Arts and Contemplative Commons at the University of Virginia. 

Lauren is also passionate about sharing her process with younger project managers in the firm. She leads a firmwide task force that creates and evaluates project management resources and tools.
