Bringing with him a passion for model making, Phillip Becher joined the VMDO team after completing his studies at Virginia Tech. His fabrication experience in college instilled in him the importance of scale models as a tool to explore craft and design intent. In addition to his project work, Phillip contributes to VMDO’s fabrication shop team, instructing others on how to safely use equipment and assisting with model photography. Phillip’s undergraduate thesis project, entitled “Defining Architecture and Grief: The Presence of Absence”, was a finalist in Virginia Tech’s design awards.
