For more than a decade at VMDO, Wyck Knox has served as a project leader for some of the most highly acclaimed K-12 projects. He is driven by innovative design measures relating to sustainability, environmental stewardship, and Net-Zero Energy. Wyck’s first two school projects with VMDO were the second and third LEED Gold public K-12 schools in the Commonwealth of Virginia: Manassas Park Elementary School and Pre-K and Discovery Elementary School in Arlington. Both buildings also received an AIA Committee on the Environment “Top Ten” Award and are routinely promoted as national models for sustainable design.

Wyck excels at simplifying complex design problems and clearly communicating them with clients and community stakeholders. This skill is exemplified in his recent work with Charlottesville Middle School and Maury High School in Norfolk, VA. These large projects address urban issues such as school district reconfiguration and mixed-use developments.
