The Science Center will feature modern laboratories, collaborative workspaces, and technology-rich fabrication and visualization labs to advance the study of biology, chemistry, environmental science, physics and engineering. A large general classroom paired with a generous study commons overlooking the quad will create a social home for the entire science community at Roanoke College. With sustainability at the forefront, the design emphasizes natural light, energy efficiency, and flexible lab spaces that can adapt to future scientific advancements. A multi-purpose rooftop terrace and vegetated roof shaded by a solar canopy offers a unique opportunity for outdoor learning, large events, or casual connection to nature and views of the Blue Ridge. Scheduled for completion in 2026, the new Science Center will serve as a vital hub for scientific inquiry, reflecting Roanoke College’s mission to provide a transformative education grounded in hands-on learning and real-world impact.
