Nestled in the central Appalachians of Southwest Virginia, Southern Gap Amphitheatre will be a 4,000-seat outdoor community amphitheater located in Buchanan County, VA. Through the nonprofit leadership of Sunset Holler, Southern Gap Amphitheatre will energize the local economy, support community building, and help heal and transform a coal-mined landscape.
As conceived, the venue would seat 2,000 guests, with a grassy hill behind it that can accommodate an additional 2,000 guests while offering sweeping views of the surrounding ridgelines and valleys. The amphitheater is being designed to host live music performances, film screenings, speaking engagements, weddings, sports, corporate events, and more. Especially important in the COVID-19 era, the venue will provide healthy options for outdoor events and cultural recreation while serving the Buchanan community with economic and social benefits.
