Pritchard Hall is home to more than 1,000 male and female students. The building is dedicated to living-learning communities, including Thrive and Students Engaging and Responding through Volunteer Experience (SERVE). Thrive is designed to provide first-year students with an opportunity to build community, develop relationships, and engage in programs that will enhance their first-year experience on campus and help them stay motivated throughout their time at the university.
SERVE is a living-learning community where students actively live out Virginia Tech’s motto of Ut Prosim (That I May Serve) on the hall, in the classroom, and in the surrounding community. Students take the courses "Exploring Citizen Leadership" while doing community service activities throughout the region.
The renovation of Pritchard Hall enlivened two 2,550 square foot parcels of space on two floors of the residence hall. Specifically, a mail room and meeting room were transformed into a modern Multipurpose room supporting living-learning opportunities for campus wide use. Classrooms and study spaces boasting collaborative technology and flexible furniture were also renovated as part of the project scope.
